    La Esclava Isaura Summary

Dramatizes the tale of Isaura, a white slave, who runs away after she rejects the advances of Leoncio, the new manager of the house, and starts a new life under the name of Elvira in another city.

    La Esclava Isaura Full Description

Isaura the Slave, Audio book dramatized in Spanish based on the famous story wrote during the abolitionist campaign of 1875 by the Brazilian Bernardo Guimaraes. It is the story of a beautiful and educated white slave, Isaura, daughter of a mestiza that passed through terrible times because she did not give herself to the sordid desires of the owner of thehouse, Mr. Almeida. Isaura was brought up and educated by his wife, a kind woman that in addition to desire the freedom of the beautiful slave, taught her to read, to write and to play the piano. Isaura's freedom dreams were truncated by Leoncio (Mr. Almeida's son), who, after his marriage, assumed the management of the house. Leoncio became obsessed with the slave, and hurt by her denial made her life miserable. Isaura escaped with the help of her father to another city, where she assumed the name of Elvira and met Alvaro, a handsome young noble man, who fell in love with Elvira.
