For human consumption, Muira puama's unque chemistry is, literally, best boiled in booze – for at least 20 minutes. The contemporary British Herbal Pharmacopoeia recommends Muira puama for dysentery and impotence. It has been in the Brazilian Pharmacopeia since the 1950's. Two recent human trials in France have shown 'a dynamic effect' on men experiencing erectile dysfunction and loss of sexual desire.
